"The Retired Police K9 Foundation is a critical asset to Police K9 handlers and Military Working Dog handlers nationally. The average citizen does not realize that when most Police and Military K9s are retired by their agencies at the end of their service life, the canine handler is shouldered with the financial responsibility of the health and nutrition of their canine partner. This is an unfair burden to the handler and his family.. During their last few years of life, when they need these services most, most agencies provide nothing for the same canines that kept their community safe during their service. The Retired Police K9 Foundation willingly steps in to fill that void for these hero dogs.It is an excellent resource for the hundreds of police canines that would otherwise not receive the services they deserve."
